These iconic lamps, designed in the 1960s by legendary designers Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni for Arteluce, are a classic of Italian design. The Balum-A230 model combines the minimalist and functional aesthetic typical of the Castiglioni family with the artisanal quality that has made Arteluce one of the most influential brands in the sector.
The design of these lamps perfectly reflects the philosophy of the Castiglioni family, who aimed to create useful objects, with simple and clean lines, but without sacrificing innovation and originality. An interesting detail is the presence of both the Arteluce and Flos branding on the back of the lamps. This is due to the fact that Flos acquired Arteluce in 1974, but continued to produce many iconic models such as the Balum-A230. So, although these lamps were designed in the 1960s, it is possible that these specific units were produced later, during the transition or re-issue period under Flos control.
It should be noted that the lamp holder of one wall light has been replaced and is slightly unstable, while another lamp is missing the ground connection.
