It was designed in 1952 by the architect and designer Marcello Nizzoli, collaborator of the Ivrea company since 1938, in collaboration with the engineer Giuseppe Beccio. Studio 44 replaced the Olivetti Studio 42 model, released in 1935 and designed by the architects Figini and Pollini and the painter Xanti Schawinsky.
